Inscriptions on Ω and Ϝ Swords

Inscriptions on Sophitia's and Cassandra's swords as seen in their promotional 3D renders up to and including SoulCalibur III are not just random Greek text. They aim to replicate the Priene inscription of Alexander the Great, but mostly fail and bastardize it in various ways. Similarities and differences are outlined in the infographic below:

This is common sentence to be studied when learning Ancient Greek and often appears in early lessons, a possible reason behind its usage here. However, the link between the Alexandra family surname and Alexander's name is quite obvious, as is the fact that Sophitia fervently prayed to Athena in Soul Edge.

Sadly, SoulCalibur VI dropped the separation between promotional high-detail workstation renders and in-game models. The inscriptions had only been visible in the former; the swords looked clean and polished without a hint of text in-game. SoulCalibur IV made them visible in-game for the first time, but replaced the text with meaningless symbols that aren't valid Greek in any way, shape or form. This carried over into V and VI later on.
